UGC creator jobs: how they work and how to get hired
UGC stands for user-generated content: short, natural-looking videos of a real person using or talking about a product, made for a brand to use in its ads and social posts. Brands like UGC because it feels like a recommendation from a person, not an advert.
What UGC jobs usually include
- Product videos: unboxing, first impressions, how-to and "day in the life" clips.
- Ad versions: several hooks for the same video so the brand can test which one performs.
- Raw footage: extra clips the brand's editor can cut into new ads.
- Usage rights: permission for the brand to run your video as a paid ad for a set time.

What to put in a UGC portfolio
Make three to six short videos for products you already own, in different styles: a talking review, a quick demo, a problem-and-solution ad and a no-talking aesthetic clip. Film in good daylight with clear audio, keep each one under 45 seconds, and open with a strong first line. Show that you can follow a brief, not just that you look good on camera.
How UGC is priced
UGC is usually priced per video, with extra charges for additional hooks, raw footage and paid-ad usage rights. Rates vary a lot by niche, experience and how long the brand wants to use the video. Rather than copying someone else's number, work out a base price from your time (scripting, filming, editing, revisions) and add separate line items for usage rights and extra versions. Platforms and regulators expect sponsored content to be disclosed. If you are paid or gifted a product, follow the platform's branded-content rules and use its paid-partnership label where required. Never claim results you did not get or pretend to be an unpaid customer.
